Funding

There are a range of funding options that may be available to cover the cost of services and hearing aids depending on your individual circumstances.

Pensioners

Those individuals on a Centrelink Pensioner Concession Card are eligible for fully-funded hearing services and hearing aids through the Department of Health’s Hearing Services Program. Hear and Clear Care is a registered HSP provider and will be able to help you with all your hearing needs.

Hearing Services Program (HSP)

HSP provides funding for hearing services for eligible customers who hold:

  • A Centrelink Pensioner Concession Card
  • Centrelink sickness allowance
  • DVA Pensioner Concession Card
  • DVA Gold Health Repatriation Card
  • DVA White Health Repatriation Card (for Hearing Loss)
  • Dependant of a concession card holder
  • Member of Australian Defence Force

Workcover

If you are currently, or previously employed in a noisy environment and you feel you have a hearing loss as a result, you may be eligible for compensation (financial and/or medical).

Hear and Clear Care is a registered Workcover provider and will be able to assist you with this.

Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA)

DVA holders are eligible for hearing services through the Hearing Services Program (HSP).  This could be hearing tests, hearing aids or other Assistive Listening Devices, including TV headsets, telephone accessories and loud, flashing doorbells.

National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)

The NDIS may provide funding for hearing services for those who are over 26 years old and not eligible for services through the Hearing Services Program.  The hearing impairment needs to be greater than 65dB in the better ear and have evidence that the hearing disability substantially reduces your function. Please call Hear and Clear Care if you feel you may be eligible for this funding.

My Aged Care Plans

If you are on a My Aged Care plan and have a hearing loss, you may be able to use part of this package to fund hearing devices and accessories.

Please call Hear and Clear Care to discuss this option further.

Medicare

Hear and Clear Care is registered with Medicare. If you are on a Chronic Disease Management plan from your General Practitioner or have a referral from an ENT specialist or Neurologist, you may be eligible for a Medicare rebate.

Private Health Insurance- HICAPS

If you have private health insurance with a certain level of extras, you may be eligible for a rebate on hearing tests, services and aids. Hear and Clear Care has a HICAPS facility so we will be able to check this rebate for you or otherwise you can contact your health insurance provider who will also be able to inform you.

Self-funded

If you are not eligible for any of the other funding options, there will be costs associated with hearing test and hearing aids.
