Hearing Tests

Modern hearing tests are very effective and non-invasive due to the developments of technology and advanced audiology training. This is great news for those experiencing hearing loss.

It is recommended that everyone gets their hearing tested each year as part of the regular annual health checks.

Once our hearing tests have confirmed the current health of your hearing, we can then recommend appropriate solutions.

What happens at Your hearing test appointment?

Hearing tests at Hear and Clear Care are conducted using in a state-of-the-art sound proof booth. The aim of this procedure is to establish the softest sound an individual can hear at a variety of frequencies. The results are then plotted on an audiogram.

The person having the hearing test sits in our state-of-the-art sound booth and is presented with a range of tones, or frequencies. Whenever the person hears the tone, they press a button. This is repeated until the softest audible tone, known as the hearing threshold, is established for that individual. This rest is repeated using frequencies that range between 250 to 8000 Hertz.

This is an informative hearing test. Not only does it tell us the level of hearing loss but also tells us the type of loss and where it is originating from; the outer, middle or inner ear. This important to know as some hearing loss can be medically improved whilst other types of hearing loss will be better addressed with hearing aids. This is crucial information that determines the the best possible solution solutions for you and, therefore, the advice we give.

We understand that not everyone is comfortable in confined spaces. If you would prefer not to sit in the sound booth when we conduct the hearing test, this isn’t a problem. We can easily adapt the testing to make you more comfortable, so don’t hesitate to let us know.
